This skirt was created for a construction class. The pattern is my own. The lower skirt is a tapered

silhouette and the upper skirt is a modified circle skirt. The final piece includes a side invisible zipper, buttons, a vent, and

a handstitched lace hem.

CONSTRUC T I ON

jena RUS SO

This dress was created for a textiles class. The goal of the project was to create a full garment out of a

non-apparel textile. This dress is made entirely of carpet with satin blanket binding to create the seams.

non-apparel TE X T I L E S

The prompt for these designs was the phrase “love is surreal...” These dresses are all taffeta fabric and include knife pleating. All designs also include blue accents. All are rendered using marker and pen.

red DRE S S

jena RUS SO

This dress was created for the Red Dress/ Go Red For Women project. The fabric is satin with blue satin lining and an underlay of netting to give the skirt fullness. The dress is fully lined. The collar is circular cut with ruffles. The cut of the dress includes princess seams that run the full length of the garment and create a fitted bodice with a flared mermaid bottom.

childrenswear DE S I G N

jena RUS SO

This dress was created for a childrens’ wear project. This garment was designed with versatility in mind and is completely reversible by flipping upside down. This design allows a child two options in one, so they can make their own choice about what to wear. It also allows them to change the look completely on short notice, e.g. if they spill something on themself while they are in public, they can quickly change and spare their parents the stress of trying to clean a stain on the spot.

experimental DE S I G N

The concept for this collection is the dreamcatcher and using it to keep positivity close to the body. Blue bodysuit and back piece are hand crocheted, and fabric was had dyed using tea and food coloring.

bodywear DE S I G N

jena RUS SO

These bathing suits were created for a bodywear project. Inspiration for this swimwear was summer and the sights and sounds associated with it. These suits are a bit nostalgic/juvenile to reflect the carefree attitude of summertime.

This color/mood study was created as part of the interview process for Abercrombie and Fitch.

These 3D embellishments were created to add to garments while on co-op assignment at Abercrombie and Fitch.

These boards were created for a project completed while on co-op at J.C. Penney. They represent mood, fabric, color, and trend inspiration.

CHROMA

This bridal collection is for the modern woman that defines her own traditions. She loves her partner and considers herself an equal. She has her own career and aspirations, and has found a partner that celebrates her ambition. Her wedding will be a celebration of the love

that she has found in this partnership. She does not want to wear the traditional white

wedding gown; she considers this to be a joyous occasion celebrating a rich future between two adults, not a ceremony in which a blank slate of a girl becomes a woman. She became a woman long ago, and without the need of a partner to

define her future. She is a colorful individual that brings her own traits to the relationship.

This collection is inspired by the radical “growing up” that our society experienced during the

Art Deco movement. Great strides were made in technology and art. We developed from

the frivilous roaring twenties into a complex society facing global change and challenges we had never faced before. The opulence and

sophistication of this era perfectly describes the grace with which this bride has weathered ups

and downs in her own life.
