months.

Group I-2

Evacuation Plan: Available fire safety plan for all supervisory personnel. Employees regularly instructed and informed of duties. Copy of plan available at telephone operator or

security center.

Bed Mobility: Beds easily movable under conditions of evacuation. Exception: Beds intended for use in areas limited to

patients.

Fire Exit Drills: Include transmission of fire alarm signal. Simulation of emergency fire conditions. Exception: movement of infirm or bed-ridden

patients. Conducted quarterly on each shift. At least 12 drills every year. 9:00 pm – 6:00 am coded announcement instead

of audible alarms allowed.

Records: All records shall be kept on premises. Written report filed to the Head of the Fire

Department twice a year including information from 527 CMR 10.09(4)(a):

suppression. Training provided promptly to new staff. Refresher course annually. Staff within 3 floors or 300 ft horizontal distance

of access door. Proper release for Conditions III, IV, V as defined

Notification: Provisions made so residents in conditions III, IV,

V can notify staff of emergency.

Keys: Keys for unlocking egress doors shall be identified

by sight and touch.

Condition Definitions: Condition III:

Key or remote control required for movement from one smoke compartment to another and from within the building to the exterior.

Condition IV: Not allowed free movement to any other space

within a smoke compartment. Single signal allows release of all sleeping rooms.

Condition V: Similar to Condition IV, but requires individual

release of all sleeping rooms.

Group E

780 CMR – Group E: Use of building by six or more persons for education through 12th grade.

School Official in charge must ensure: Plan for protection and evacuation; approved by

the Head of the Fire Department. Personnel and Students receive proper instruction. Students participate in fire drill within 3 days of

entering school.

The Head of the Fire Department or appointed person must visit each school at least 4 times a year: (one of which may be a multi-hazard drill)
