Objectives
• Introduce Peace Corps Response Program
• Prompt informal discussion on further collaboration across the USG in the FSM and Palau
Peace Corps Response (PCR)
• Opportunities for experienced professionals with at least 10 years of experience.
• Helps to meet critical capacity-building needs per PC’s first goal: To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
• Assignments range from three months to one year in length.
History
• Started in 1996 as the Crisis Corps due to flooding in the Caribbean
• Spring 2005: Thailand and Sri Lanka• September 2005: Hurricane Katrina• September 2007: Name changed to Peace Corps Response• June-August 2014: First FSM group of PCR Volunteers

approximately 3 months• Positions in nearly 50
countries in all PC’s programmatic sectors
• Over 300 positions last year
• Over 2,000 PCR Volunteers to date

• Serve in high-impact project based assignments.• Bring a wealth of experience and expertise
to projects.• Posses cross cultural sensitivity.• Meet language and educational requirements needed to
excel in an assignment.• Respond to humanitarian crisis.• In the FSM primarily work in Education, Health and Youth
in Development.

• Position is advertised and best qualified is selected• Volunteer departs for country, has one-week
orientation at Post, then begins service
