Stage 2- Civil War / Internal Conflict Brief or extended period of fighting Religious, ethnic, or political divisions Chaos and violence Human rights atrocities- children soldiers,

ethnic cleansing, genocide Refugee camps in other countries Sometimes results in partition – division into

separate countries
