A Decade of Extreme Music Authority Founded in 2004, Decibel Magazine is heavy metal’s most trusted voice. For 12 years, Decibel has never deviated from
its original mission of examining the past, present and future of metal.
Since our debut issue (the Dillinger Escape Plan, October 2004), Decibel has
evolved into the authoritative publication on heavy music. Members of the Decibel community know that behind the scenes of the magazine, their level of passion is matched by the magazine’s staff and writers, and they trust that Decibel will always guide them toward the best music from both undiscovered acts and their favorite major artists.
The iconic Decibel Hall of Fame section has been around since issue #2, each month providing the definitive story behind the making of one of extreme music’s most important albums. Aside from reviews, interviews and the Hall of
Fame, we step outside the box and into other aspects of metal culture. Each month, in the pages of Decibel, you can find: a column that highlights extreme craft beers (Brewtal Truth); a comic strip from award-winning comic creator Chuck BB (Stone Cold Lazy); and, since issue #1, a mind-blowing back-page column written by best-selling author and indie rock star John Darnielle. Decibel isn’t just America’s only monthly metal magazine—with an array of dynamic, exclusive content, five national tours and multiple books in our arsenal, we’re the true voice of heavy metal.

DIGITALNostalgia has long been one of Decibel’s greatest motivators, yet we strive to stay on the cutting edge of technology. Since we expanded our digital store to include many of our out-of-print
issues, you can finally catch up on Decibel classics. Decibel is now available via iPad, iPhone, Android, Nook and Kindle, allowing digitally-savvy international readers access to the magazine at an affordable price, and Decibel advertisers thousands of extra eyes on their product each month at no additional charge.
In January 2011, the heaviest music magazine in North America got half an ounce heavier. With two explosive new tracks from Brutal Truth, Decibel launched its inimitable Flexi Series, in which loyal subscribers receive a new, ultra-limited vinyl flexi disc with the magazine every month. Each individual
disc features exclusive music from the artists we’ve assiduously covered over a now-12-year history, spanning nearly 150 issues.
SPECIAL ISSUESSince 2009, Decibel has produced unique annual Special Collector’s Editions dedicated to select genres, artists and/or periods in metal’s storied history. Created with the same standard of editorial and artistic excellence as Decibel’s monthly volumes, these ancillary products are routinely devoured by our die-hard fan base.

Our main focus may be our print magazine, but the Decibel brand has found continued success hosting an array of live events: six successful Decibel Tours, with the seventh coming February 2018; a sold-out 100th Issue Show; Choosing Death Fest, a death metal festival based on the book by Decibel Editor-in-Chief Albert Mudrian; and Decibel Metal & Beer Fest, the wildly successful two-day celebration of brutal breweries and the bands that inspired them (Part II coming March 2018).
None of these events would be possible without the support of our sponsors, including high-profile partners like FYE, Century Media, Nuclear Blast, Metal Blade, Relapse, Unibroue, Peavey, JSR Direct and Randall. For more information on sponsorship benefits, or to request a custom sponsorship package, please email Director of Sales and Marketing Alex Yarde at alex.yarde@decibelmagazine.com.
