Dear Parents,

Next week's angles lessons will practise measuring and

drawing angles. If you have a protractor a home, please find it

this week and have it ready to complete your tasks.

If you do not have a protractor, online measuring activities will

be available and an alternative lesson will be provided instead

of drawing angles.

WE WILL REVIEW MEASURING AND DRAWING ANGLES

WHEN WE RETURN SCHOOL SO PLEASE DO NOT GO

OUT AND BUY A PROTRACTOR ESPECIALLY FOR THESE

LESSONS.

Thank you,

The Year 5 team

LO: to calculate missing angles on a

straight line

In order to answers these types of calculation, we will have to

recap one key skill and practise one key skill.

Key skill 1:to recap the

number of degrees on a

straight line

Key skill 2 - to use given

information to find a

missing angle

In order to answer this question, we first need to know the size of an angle

along a straight line

What do you think the

size of the angle is?

How could you prove

this without using a

protractor?

Half of 360 = 180

An angle aross a straight line = 180

Key skill 2 - to use given information to find

a missing angle

The size of our straight

line angle is 180

We can subtract the

known angle from 180 .
