Execute the defined activities in the planned time frame. During this phase, the SAP expert is available to answer questions and to provide the necessary knowledge to ensure smooth execution.
Execute necessary follow up steps according to your project plan, like rollout of results from execution phase.
Plan Chose Follow upExecutePrepare
Each Expert Guided Implementation should be treated as a Project
The Project should have a clear outcome, a configured ALM scenario or the ability to deliver a self service report by the end of this Expert Guided Implementation

Check of prerequisites RFC Connections
For the communication of your Solution Manager withSAP Backbone please ensure that the followingprerequisites are fulfilled
© 2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 18
Check of prerequisites RFC Connections
Transaction SM59:You can check the connection to SAP with Utilities Test Authorization Test for the RFC SAPOSS in transaction SM59. This will do the connection test using the user and password that was assigned to the RFC.
The SAPOSS RFC should have theLogon Group EWA
The User / Password is alwaysOSS_RFC / CPIC
© 2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 19
Check of prerequisites RFC Connections
Transaction: OSS1If you have problems with the connection test of SAPOSS you can check and maintain settings for the connection in transaction OSS1. The RFC SAPOSS will be adapted automatically after change of configuration in OSS1.
You can find detailed information about the RFC connection SAPOSS in the SAP Note 812386

Check of prerequisitesS-User authorizations
URL: http://service.sap.com/user-admin
You can check the authorization objects of your Solution Manager S-User with the „Authorization reports“. Please ensure that your S-User has at least the marked authorization objects.

Check of prerequisites Installation / Upgrade post processing information
Please ensure that your SAP Solution Manager 7.1 is at SP3 or higher!

Check of prerequisites Client Copy
SAP delivers standard Solution Manager configuration in clients 000 and 001. Client 001 can be used for the productive Solution Manager client, but you can also create a new productive client in order to keep the master client original.
There is also a client needed for BW, which can be the same as the Solution Manager productive client or a separate client. See next slide for options.
To create a new client in the SAP Solution Manager perform the client copy using profile SAP_UCSV with 000 as the source client and 001 as the source client for users.
You can find information how to create anew client and do the client copy in the IMG(Implementation Guide - transaction SPRO)in the tree Cross-Scenario Settings
Client Copy

Check of prerequisites BW Client
Business Warehouse (BW) Strategy
SAP Netweaver Business Warehouse (BW) provides important reporting functions to the various SAP Solution Manager scenarios, such as Root Cause Analysis, IT performance reporting and change analytics. There are three major options to consider when planning your system landscape in regards to BW:
BW in the productive SAP Solution Manager clientIn this scenario BW is used in the same productive client as SAP Solution Manager. This option allows simpler configuration and isolates the BW activities conducted for solution life cycle management from the data on a production BW instance. This is SAP’s recommendation.
BW in a separate client on SAP Solution ManagerIn this scenario BW activities are conducted in a separate client on the SAP Solution Manager system. This scenario provides increased security, as user access is more restricted. However, you must maintain users separately and this increases your administration effort. There is no technical benefit.
BW in a separate, non-productive BW systemIn this scenario, the BW activities are conducted in a separate, non-productive BW system in the landscape. Data is sent to this system from the SAP Solution Manager system via RFC. This is only needed in rare cases for sizing purposes.
Note: We do not recommend SAP Solution Manager data in a separate, productive BW system.
Please refer to SAP Note 1487626 for further information.

Check of prerequisites Client Copy – Convert UME
After you created a new productive client you need to convert the Java user store to the new productive ABAP client. This is needed if you want to use Root Cause Analysis.
You can find a detailed description in the IMG(Implementation Guide - transaction SPRO)in the tree Technical Settings Client Copy
Convert UME
Note that the Java engine will need to berestarted afterwards.

Check of prerequisites Client Settings
Some configuration steps make customizing changes in the productive client and the BW client. Therefore ensure the following client settings in transaction SCC4 during the configuration activities:

System Preparation (1)Create Users
Overview – What will be done
User SOLMAN_ADMIN is created and the roles ZSAP_SOLMAN_ADMIN, ZSAP_SM_CONF_SEC are created and assigned along with additional role assignment for Work Centers and J2EE
A Business Partner of type Person will be created for the userThe two roles Business Partner (Gen) and Employee will be assigned to the user SOLMAN_ADMIN
User SMD_ADMIN is created to connect Diagnostic Agents to your Solution Manager system.
User SOLMAN_BTC is created to schedule jobs for background processing
User SM_EXTERN_WS is created for external web services communication between Diagnostics Agents and SAP Solution Manager.
User SM_INTERN_WS is created for internal web services communication between the ABAP and JAVA stack of SAP Solution Manager.
Business Partners will be used for Solution Manager scenarios likeIncident Management and Change Management

In case you have a Central User Administration (CUA) in place and your SAP Solution Manager or other systems (that are linked with SAP Solution Manager) are connected to it, you can adapt the CUA configuration so that technical users and dialog users (such as SOLMAN_ADMIN) can be automatically created with transaction SOLMAN_SETUP from SAP Solution Manager.
For details about how to configure CUA together with SAP Solution Manager, please refer to Security Guide chapter “Using Central User Administration“.
