Nursery Class2020 – 2021

Hello there!

We are so excited for you to come and join us at Propps Hall

Primary School in September! Your class will be called

Darwins. Let’s find out more!

Who will my teacher be?Your teacher in Darwins is going to be Mrs Burgess.

What will I wear?You and all of your friends will wear a school uniform. You will wear a navy blue cardigan or jumper with the school logo on, a white polo top with a collar, a grey skirt, dress or pants and a pair of smart, black school shoes.

What will I learn about?

This year you will learn about lots of different topics. You will learn about

ourselves, traditional stories, night and day, mini-beasts and countries.

If you come to school for the morning or for the full day you will come to school at 8.45 am and your day will start at 8.55 am.

If you come to school for the full day your dinner time is at 11.30 am – 12.15 pm. You will eat your yummy and warm dinner at school in the hall with your friends.

If you come to school for the morning you will go home at 11.45 am.

If you come to school for the afternoon or the full day you will go home at 3.15 pm.

What is independent learning time?

Independent learning time is where you can make your own choices about where to play

and learn with your friends. There are lots of areas to choose from either inside or outside of the

classroom.

Reading CornerYou will love to

relax in the reading corner. There is plenty

of space to get comfy and

choose a book to read. You

will also enjoy using finger

puppets and figures to re-tell your favourite

story.

Writing Area

In the writing area there are lots of different materials that you can use. There's pencils, felt tips, pencil

crayons and chalk to draw and write with. There's also paper, note pads, whiteboards and envelopes for you

to write and draw on.

Maths Area

The maths area is the perfect area to practise skills such as counting and recognising numbers.

You can do things such as putting numbers in order, making patterns and sharing out and

playing with loose part objects.

Role Play AreaThere are lots of fun games and role play

that take place in this area. There are lots of

dressing up outfits and

props to use that bring

role play to life!

Construction Area

In the construction area you can use a range of building blocks to build your own models. You can

build models such as airports, car parks, theme parks, sky scrapers and much more!

Creative AreaThe creative area is very

popular! In this area you will

enjoy using the materials and resources to make lots of

cool things such as watches, wands, spy

catchers, shields and much more!

Sand Area

There are lots of different tools that can be used in the sand area so that you can be very creative. You can make things such as sand castles and birthday cakes or you can act like pirates and hide buried

treasure!

Water Area

The water area is a great place to investigate. You can find out what objects sink and float, fill and

empty tubs and containers and bath and wash the babies…they like having their hair washed!

Art AreaWho doesn't

love painting? In this area you can create lots of paintings that you will be very proud of! You

will enjoy exploring colour

mixing and using lots of

different tools in this area.

Outside Area

We have a very big outside area for you to enjoy. We have a fairy garden, two climbing

frames, a sand area, a water area, a mud kitchen, a construction area and a bike park!
