Policy

• How could this be monitored?

• UK experience (supermarket multiple(s))

• What would an Irish Policy look like?

• Can we agree on a policy?

• Should we follow the WHO guidelines??

Policies

• More and more a request from customers

• What is Best Practise in this area?

• WHO Guidelines are a good starting area in my opinion

• Cross over antibiotics are to be minimised or not used at all

Policy example (Ireland)

• No Colistin

• No Cephalosporins (also not licensed)

• No Fluoroquinolones

• Phasing out Macrolide usage (2017)

• Continuous monitoring (trending data – good vs bad)

• Continuous improvement??

2nd Policy example (Ireland)

• No Colistin

• No Cephalosporins (also not licensed)

• No Fluoroquinolones (unless in cases of severe unresolved disease based on AB sensitivity)

• No Macrolide usage

• Continuous monitoring (data trends)
