DESCRIPTION

The utilities system that provides critical heating and cooling to several buildings at a major hospital campus required an upgrade of its antiquated DCS without any system-wide downtime. Rockwell Automation Solution Partner Cybertrol Engineering implemented a scalable PlantPAx process automation system based on virtualized thin client architecture and device level ring I/O network design. Implementation included an I/O cut-over solution with no rewiring. The new system reduced total cost of ownership, and the redundant controllers significantly decrease risk of system downtime.

Used Point I/O chassis to fit in

same space

Every I/O point individually

fused

Clean plant – enclosures could

remain open for an extended

period

Hung new chassis on door

System Implementation – Cutover

All new chassis powered up on

device-level ring

I/O swapped over from existing

panel to new chassis, point-by-

point

Old modules removed and new

chassis relocated to inside of

cabinet
