IntroductionI illustrated highlights of key concepts from Chapters 21 and 22 using my
imagination, visual and conceptual reframing, to diverge into new perspectives. How? After selecting highlights /original statements of these chapters, I used my imagination to generate boards that contain illustrative metaphors such as visuals, quotes, and conceptual sketches, sometimes intentionally provocative and incorporating humor. Brief description of my approach:- What’s unique & original? Most of the time, I used as springboard different emotions, to transform an original statement into emotionally colorful shadow projections via metaphors.-Divergence may hopefully bring across these concepts in a powerful way that provides enhanced emotional resonance to different people. Most of the time, divergent playing with an emotional roulette was the tool selected for this purpose, which by its output hopefully reflects both, my imagination and conceptual understanding.- Besides emotions, I also used multiple intelligences and MBTI as divergent springboards.- Last, I included my conceptual visual expression of one of our daily paradigms.

I became interested in using emotions and metaphors for this assignment after reading the article:
Todd I. Lubart & Isaac Getz (1997): Emotion, Metaphor, and the Creative Process, Creativity Research Journal, 10:4, 285-301
A number of ideas in the article captured my attention, and led me to explore them in practice via this assignment:
- Metaphor generation is a unique creative ability, and thus seemed relevant for creating my final product.
There are conventional metaphors and novel ones, which bring new or unusual views. The later ones are the most useful ones to extend the insights a topic or problem.
- The authors posited the power of emotions to access concepts with creative potential, in particular its use in
metaphor creation.- Emotions are alike creativity, multidimensional, extremely rich!- Emotions are attached to concepts and images, and imprinted in our memory.
- Metaphors are believed to generate emotional waves that propagate throughout the memory system.
Depending on the target emotional make-up, metaphors achieve different resonating power. Thus, can
help us to achieve memorable associations between distant concepts, and therefore, hopefully consolidate
our learning about a specific topic. In summary, metaphors charged with emotions are a recipe for creative
thinking and should lead to achieving memorable learning!
