What Can We Do?
Do nothing and continue to see churchbecome irrelevant and unnecessary

Rework our theological and practicaltraining to encompass a five-fold ministrymodel

Unless the church of the West begins tounderstand this, and unless we develop amissionary theology, not just a theology ofmission, we will never achieve more than merelypatch up the church.
Because God is a missionary God, Gods people aremissionary people. The churchs mission is not
secondary to its being, the church exists in beingsent and in building up itself for its mission (fromKarl Barth Church Dogmatics IV/1 [1956:725].
