We will focus first on getting the cool cities agreement signed by the mayor
and city council. Then on actions to lower CO2 emissions.
Consider This:
The amount of sunlight that intersects the earth in 24
hours, is more energy than all the
conventional oil that has been…
or ever will be…
extracted.

• Lowering Co2 involves all - We all breathe the same air.
• Like smoke in the air, this process gets swirled together. It's not nice
& neat like some suburban lawns. But It will get results.
CoolJolietA 21st Century Renaissance.• The city of Joliet is you and organizations;
every person who lives here, and still others.
• We are fortunate to have wise people work for the city. They've already
started trying to lower co2.
• As good citizens we need to help in the effort, and suggest other
actions.
• We will explore what actions worked well in other cities like Joliet and
avoid those programs that didn't work so well.

• We need to keep an eye toward cost. But keeping good air quality
must take priority over short term cost. Not only for health but also for
long term economic impact.
CoolJolietA 21st Century Renaissance.
• This project can create jobs.
• We don't know yet what the 21st century will look like. But we can look
back on some things in the 20th century and see how "it was a good
idea at the time" but it doesn't work now.
