ABOUT PROJECT Grade of concrete used - M25 Lateral ties - 10 mm and

8mm Design life - 80 years Type/Class of structure - Class A Type of foundation - Raft Designed for fire resistance - 1.5 hours

4

LEARNING OBJECTIVES All reinforcement bars should be Thermo Mechanically treated steel bars of

Fe-500 grade Clear Cover to Reinforcement 1. For Footing bottom face -75mm2. Footing side and top face - 50mm3. Column - 40mm4. Beam - 25mm5. Slab - 20mm For faces of members likely to be in direct contact with ground clear cover

should be greater of either Dia of Main reinforcement bar or Equal to 50mm

WATER TANK Capacity - 30,000 ltrs Material - Rcc and concrete Reinforcement used - 8 mm for tie bars and 10mm as

distribution bars bothway and 12 mm as main bars in beams.

Size of Beam - 230× 450 mm

Grade of concrete –M25 Tank is divided in 3 equal portions i.e 10,000 ltrs in each

portion and baffel walls are made. Two portions are used for drinking and other purposes while

1 portion is used as reserved for fire and other mishaps.

PLASTERING - GRIT WASH (EXTERNAL PLASTER) Plaster to be applied in two layers i.e after

raking first layer of 15 mm thick cement mortar (1:4) and again make surface rough.

Curing to be done for atleast 7 days

20

SECOND LAYERMaking square boxes as per design using thin tapered wooden batten fixed over previous layer with nails. Battens must be removed with great care so that edges are not damaged.

Wash marble chipping with clean water before application.

Wet the previous layer with water and then apply mix.Mix should be made with marble chipping 12mm mixed in grey 65% approx. and white cement 35% approx.

1:0.5:2 where 1 proportion is of mixed grey and white cement, 0.5 is marble powder and 2 represent marble chipping of 12mm size.

22

Mix made is applied in uniform thickness and is pressed properly with wooden float for proper bonding with previous layer and is finished upto true surface. After initial setting it is watered to achieve strength.H2SO4 mixed with water is used for washing and scrubbing purposes. Suitable brushes are used and top layer is scrubbed until natural colour of marble chipping is achieved.

DEFECTS

Concrete not filled properly

24Honeycombing

25

CONCLUSION Six weeks internship was very helpful to me.

I get practical knowledge that how task is executed.

I learnt about working of concrete pump, batching plant, water tank, grit wash and some defects.
