Computer’s Evolution

By Bobby King and Michael McWilliams

Early Computer’s

• Z1 created by Konrad Zuse of Germany– Considered to be the first programmable computer.– 1936 – 64 word memory– To program a person would use punch tape and

received information also with punch tape.– People disagree that this is the real first computer.

The Change in Size

• Computer use to take up a whole room and now they can fit in a pocket

• This is dew to technology advances human preference.

Input

• Keyboard, Mouse, memory card• Early Input was mostly Punch Card

Functions and Programming• Simple to Complex• Machine Code to Object oriented Language• Used the same base language of Binary

Output

• Used to get information out of the computer• Monitors were used to display graphics and to

allow easier programming.• Printer, Speaker, and so on

Deep Blue

• Garry Kasparo vs. a computer know as Deep Blue

• Garry Kasparo won the first match• 6 games were played in a rematch

and Deep Blue won 2 to 1• 3 ties• Shows how far we have come for

programming and interaction with machineshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Deep_Blue.jpg

Mobile PC/Computers

• Implies wireless transmission using computing device while in transit.

• Laptops, net books, tablets and mobile phones• Droid and Osi

Memory

• Drum Memory – Uses as a Drum as how the early phonograph used the wax cylinder record

• Magnetic core Memory – stored memory by magnetic polarity.

• Semi-conductor memory- stored memory on an integrated chip . Developed into R.A.M.

First Generation

• “Use of vacuum tubes• Big & Clumsy• High Electricity Consumption• Programming in Mechanical Language• Larger AC were needed• Lot of electricity failure occurred ”(Computer : the technology next, the future......)

Second Generation• “Transistors were used• Core Memory was developed• Faster than First Generation computers• First Operating System was developed• Programming was in Machine Language & Assembly

Language• Magnetic tapes and discs were used• Computers became smaller in size than the First Generation

computers• Computers consumed less heat and consumed less

electricity”(Computer : the technology next, the future......)

Third Generation

• “Integrated circuits developed• Power consumption was low• SSI & MSI Technology was used• High level languages were used”(Computer : the technology next, the future......)

Forth Generation

• “LSI & VLSI Technology used• Development of Portable Computers• RAID Technology of data storage• Used in virtual reality, multimedia, simulation• Computers started in use for Data

Communication• Different types of memories with very high

accessing speed & storage capacity”(Computer : the technology next, the future......)

Fifth Generation

• “Used in parallel processing• Used superconductors• Used in speech recognition• Used in intelligent robots• Used in artificial intelligence”(Computer : the technology next, the future......)
