JANUARY, 2019 VOLUME 97 / ISSUE 10, CALVIN COX, EXALTED RULER NAPA CALIFORNIA
MESSAGE FROM YOUR EXALTED RULER
The end of 2018 is just days away. We started December with Memorial Sunday on December 2nd with about 40 widows, widowers, guests and members attending the service and brunch afterward. Thank you kitchen crew for a very good brunch.
On December 5th we initiated five new members which bring our membership up to 652 members. Great job everyone!! We are still growing and have the lowest lapsation rate in the Northwest District.
I have not been able to be here at the Lodge this term as much compared to the last two terms due to medical problems. As if that was not enough to keep me away we decided to move from the North end of town to RiverWood right next to the Lodge, which we are still in the process of.
I am wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and thanking those of you who help the Lodge going forward.
Fraternally,
Exalted Ruler, Calvin Cox

Hello Members:
I hope all of you had a great holiday. It sure came very fast this year. The Lodge has been very busy with lots of Christmas parties and other events. Don't forget the Crab Feed on January 12th, tickets are on sale at the Bar. We also have a luncheon for our State President Bob Duitsman on Friday, January 18th. We would like members to attend and meet him. Let us know if you want to come.
At our last Lodge meeting on December 5th, we initiated five new members into the Lodge: David Aten, Michele Carter, Jan Garrett, Susan Gott and Craig Musgrave. We also welcomed William Wells who transferred to our Lodge from the Carmichael Lodge. Welcome to all of you!!
One of our Associate Members, Bill Nastek, donated a bunch of bicycles for the CHP toy drive. Thank you, Bill, we appreciate it so much. Also the toy drive surpassed previous years. Thank you to all the members who so generously donated toys for the toy drive.
We also had a wonderful Members Christmas party this year with 73 members attending. There was an ugly sweater contest and great appetizers enjoyed by all. Thanks to our great kitchen for all the great food they prepared.
Please keep in mind, there are still 27 members who are delinquent with their dues. If you are one of them, please consider paying them. I have to drop any member who has not paid their dues by the end of March 2019. All the best to you all for the New Year.
Fraternally, Judy Fisher, Lodge Secretary

Napa Elks Activties Report January 2019
Happy New Year! We had a busy December at #832. Our Food Drive for Crosswalk Church went well, the church is greatful for our
food donations. The CHP distributed the toys and many thanks going to all members who picked a child and bought toys. The food
and toys from our lodge made a difference for those receiving. Thank you all.
Members Christmas and Ugly Sweater: Tuesday, Dec. 11th we had a merry turnout of Members for our Holiday Cheer Christmas
party. Many thanks going to kitchen staff for the appitizers, we also had Egg Nog/Brandy and Christmas Cookies. Santa got to busy to
attend this year but he will try and make it next year. We had approximatly 70 folks in attendance and most were wearing their ugly
Christmas Sweaters. The Sweater contest was great fun, thank you all for competing. The four winners were Al Brambrink, Ron(didn't

VETERAN’S CORNER Leo Garfield, Associate Member Napa Lodge, PER Richmond Lodge
Hello fellow Veterans. I hope you have enjoyed the few issues I have been able to write. Now with Hospice
Cancer treatment and a little case of shingles, I find myself unable to write these days and must discontinue. I
am sure there are many veterans in your lodge who could continue the article. There are so many vets in your
lodge that surely there is just one who is willing to jump in.
Anyway, regardless, I have truly enjoyed Napa Elks lodge and will continue my associate membership. I won't
be there as often as I would like, but I'll pop in on occasion.
The Elks Ear I can't believe that I went to see the Boys at the Bar, seeking words of wisdom and guidance. But, I came up dry. Nothing, not
so much as a complaint! The only explanation is we are passing close to the Sun.
But good things are happening. Our toy drive with the California Highway Patrol, by far is the best we have ever had. A big
thank you also to Bill Nastek who donated a bunch of bicycles. I can hardly wait to stuff them in the patrol car. We are so happy
with Bill, we made him our Santa Claus this year.
Our State President, Bob Duitsman, is going to be visiting our District in January 2019. He will be at our Lodge for lunch on
Friday, January 18th, 2019. Anyone that would like to join him, please call the office and RSVP that you are coming. Bob, (I
can call him Bob as we are brother Elks) will also be our next Grand Exalted Ruler.
Now for some important stuff!! Name that Elk! Somewhere in this great Bulletin (below) is a list of suggested names for that Elk.
Fill out your choice and get it back to the Lodge by January 7, 2019. In case there is a tie with the proposers, it will be settled by
Rock, Paper, Scissors!! Or something similar. Well back to the Bar to see if there is any improvement.
Remember the best is yet to come!!!
