Year 1 – Actions so far… Our Eco-committee

has taken the lead role in the first year on the project.

We have focussed on: • reducing the waste in

school• Improving energy

effeciency• Lowering our carbon

footprint.

Eco – bag design 2009

The PPC fundraising committee have promoted this project through the sale

of reusable bags.

Take One Action Film Festival – September 2009

Zero Waste Hero Training 3.12.09

Changeworks trained the eco -committee to become waste heroes and to work towards

the school having zero waste at school

dinners.

Pupils undertook a

waste audit on the 2.12.09 and a follow up on the 17.12.09

Zero Waste Hero Training

We held a whole school assembly led by Silly Mr Sausage. Following this assembly pupils made eco-pledges.

We have aimed to reduce food miles… and use local produce

• Local, seasonal produce • Grow our own

vegetables – linked to gardening club

• We have signed up to a project in which every class in the school will grow potatoes.

• The school has signed up – 2.3.10• The eco – committee has looked at

purchasing trees from a company in East Lothian at a cost of less that 50p per tree

• Ian Woolard (allotments officer) will visit the school to advise on best planting site

Whole School Sunflower Project – May 2010

Smoothie Sale – 10.2.10

The eco – committee raised £215.45 through the sale of healthy fruit

smoothies.

Sustainable Energy

•Visit to Midmar allotments to look at use of solar panelling

•Fundraising to purchase solar panels for outdoor classroom
