Clarkesville First United Methodist Church
March 2014
What a crazy month for our youth and children! We survived the snow, even if
we had to miss some time together.
Our youth kicked off the month with a Super Bowl Party to watch the Broncos
get stomped by the Seahawks. We had a great time hanging out together! We also
took a group to see the LEGO movie. There's only one way to describe it: every-
thing is awesome. Once you see the movie, you'll understand.
Coming up in the month of March, our youth are playing laser tag on Saturday
the 8th from 6:30-8:30PM. Even better, the laser tag is coming to us! We are book-
ing GA LaserTag to come and run 2 hours of laser tag madness for us at the
church. Parents, you are invited too! What better way is
there to connect with your child than by shooting each
other with lasers?
Our children partici-
pated in our Winter
Olympics on February
23rd! We had represen-
tatives from Canada, the
UK, Germany, Russia,
and of course, the
U.S.A. Our athletes took home medals in categories such
as the snowball fight, hockey shoot-out, the biathlon, and
more. A BIG thank you to all of our volun-
teers and youth that helped!

Getting to Know Hearts of Grace Circle
Hearts of Grace had a productive 2013.
We were blessed by feeding the Lord's
sheep at the Clarkesville Soup Kitchen for
our 5th Saturday rotation. This is one of
our favorite local missions! We also
helped with our VBS and made several
fel lowship donations to our church Membership As-
sistance Program. Children are our most
precious gift from God and our very own
Leanne Nicholson wrote and directed the
Children's Christmas play with the amaz-
ing assistance of Candice Holcomb. We
also helped with the Food 2 Kids project,
preparation of food for funerals, and
closed out the year with our Ladies Ad-
vent Brunch. We appreciate the Friends in
Faith Circle who helped with us with this!
Proceeds assisted a family at Christmas. It
is with God's love and grace that we have
done these works, and we look forward to
a full and happy 2014!

Habersham Christian Learning Center and
Campus Crusade for Christ both sent their
thanks for the monthly support that we sent.
Many thanks for all your prayers, calls and
cards last month when I had surgery. Once
again you’ve shown what a caring church
family we are blessed with here.
My love to all,
Elizabeth Pratt
From The United Methodist Children’s
Home: With gifts like yours, children, youth
and families are learning to become self-
sustaining and find permanency in their lives
in a safe and caring environment.
Dear Clarkesville First UMC family,
On behalf of the Joyce Tatum Wilbanks fam-
ily, I would like to tell you how deeply ap-
preciative we are of the many acts of kind-
ness during Mother’s illness and passing. Not
only did she treasure the many phone calls,
visits, and cards, but would have been so
pleased with every aspect of her service and
the family meal afterward. Your love and
support through this difficult time has meant
so very much to the entire family.

The financial status of the church remains very
positive. Gifting in the church remains strong
but going forward the church needs to be
aware of several issues:
1) The Finance Committee needs for those
members wishing to pledge to the general
budget for 2014 to please return their pledge
cards within the next two weeks. Your pledge
will allow the committee to properly gauge fi-
nancial support within the church and it will
allow the committee to be timely in our alloca-
tion of your gifts.
2) The new building will add additional
cost to our budget. Those costs were incorpo-
rated into our 2014 budget. The monthly op-
eration of that new facility will give us a true
picture of what our future needs as a church
will be.
We continue to move forward financially.
As our church grows we must move accord-
ingly and responsibly to meet that need.
In Christ,
Jeff Spivey, Finance Committee Chairman
