Promised Land

• Prefigures Heaven• Israelites had to fight and suffer to get it• Christians can’t enter heaven, the true

Promised Land, unless they fight enemies of their salvation (sin)

Battle of Jericho

• March silently around Jericho once a day for 6 days.

• The 7th day, march around 7 times. Priests blow horns, people shout and the walls fall down

• Emphasizes that Holiness and salvation are not just for the Jews, but for all

• Symbolizes the kingdom of Israel is torn from Saul

David is anointed by Saul

David and Goliath

• David’s victory over Goliath-a type of every Christian’s ultimate victory over evil.

• David’s life prefigures the coming of the true shepherd

David is credited for writing many of the Psalms
