The SketchBook
GREAT AND TALENTED MINDS THROUGHOUT HISTORY EXPLORED THEIR IDEAS, DEVELOPED THEORIES
AND SKETCHED COUNTLESS ILLUSTRATIONS IN THEIR BOOKS.
So whatever you do with yours, may you find many glorious moments
of euphoric frenzy and creative madness.
ORCHESTRATED HIS ELECTRIC LIGHT.
RECORDED THERORIES OF RELATIVIITY, SPACE & TIME.
PAINTED UPON A STARRY NIGHT.
FILLED 13,000 PAGES THROUGHOUT HIS LIFE.
DREW INSPIRATION FROM THE MOON FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE.
SKETCHED IDEAS FOR MONA.
"It should not be hard for you to stop sometimes and look into the stains of walls, or ashes of a fire, or clouds, or mud or like places, in which... you may find really marvellous ideas."

Inspiration comes when we allow empty spaces in our lives, some solitude and idleness. it is a moment when we become receptive to a deeper wisdom, to that part of life which we do not command. This moment—right now—is one such time.

By fascinating you
Desire fascinates with pleasure. Our insatible appetite for sight, sound, taste, touch and scent. To desire is to crave, and captivates our need for sensory fulfillment. desire is inherently difficult to ignore. It’s not taboo, or even a mystery; sex sells.
Taco Bell. What you crave.
Tempted by forbidden fruit When we’re told we can’t have something, fascination can take hold and make us want it more. Vice lets us bend the rules and break out of strict norms. Vice never fails to get people talking, which leads to buying.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
We are intrigued by curiosity. Mystique flirts with us. Exciting enough to get noticed, yet complex enough to stay interesting. A delicate balance of anticipation and reward. It fascinates by building mythology and limiting information.
The Coca-Cola recipe.
Power dominates success. It controls, leads and directs our focus. It gives us the fundamental possibility of success and greatness. It also intimidates and causes us to act.
You never get a second chanceto make a first impression.
Symbols of respect.Prestige rates people and objects relative to one another. It evokes admiration and sets priorities. Prestige fascinates by setting high standards, limiting availability and being part of the elite.
BMW. The ultimate driving machine.
Everybody wants it.Trust is more nuanced, more fragile, harder to earn and eaiser to lose then the other 6 triggers. Trust is only fascinating when established consistently. Trust guides us with familiarity, comfort and reassurance.
I’ll have the usual.
Act or else. Alarm revs up our internal crisis center. We are programmed to focus and act, and instinctivly try to get rid of the percieved danger. Alarm fascinates by compelling us to do something that we otherwise would not.
Whatever you do, call now!
1. Admitted we were powerless over graphic design - that our minds had become unmanagable - obsessive -compulsive.
2. Came to believe a .com google - font greater than helvetica could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn iMac and our Pads over to Apple Care as though we understood the 300 page agreement.
4. Made us listen to a searching and fearless moral critigue of our Brand.
5. Submitted to sales, marketing, and to another designer the exact nature of our self-promotion.
6. Were not entirely ready to have the account manager remove all the design concepts and creative.
7. Bluntly asked him to remove himself.
8. Made a list of all great ideas we had harmed, and became willing to edit them all.
9. Made constant edits to such ideas, except when to do so would injure our chances of ever completing one.
10. Continued to take personally all critizism about our work, and when they were wrong, promptly admitted we were right.
11. Sought through fear and trepidation to improve our conscious creativity as we to understand it, praying only for the knowledge of our next project, and that the power won’t go out.
12. Having had a inspirational experience as a result of our OCD, we tried to carry the final design to our client, and to practice never again obssesing over every tiny, little detail of our work.
A CREATIVE 12-STEP PROGRAM FORGRAPHIC ADDICTS
When you fascinate people, not only do they focus on you and your message, but they’re also more likely to believe, care about and purchase from you.

sets everything else in motion. The cause behind all effects.
The power behind all manifestations, and the seeds of the end sown in
every beginning.
Make up a song and sing about the problem.Create an idea that could get you fired. What does the sky taste like?Write some headlines that describe the problem.Ask the most creative person you know.Ask the least creative person you know.Ask a child.
Try some unconventional wisdom to aid in creative crisis management. Hack your brain by firing some totally unrelated neurons.

What is your most bizarre creative idea?
Juggling is the best way to improve your thinking speed. Five minutes a day practicing. Hint: Stare at the same spot above your head juggling two balls. Don’t move on to 3 until you’ve mastered two.
