Magna Cum Laude, Latin for “with high honors,” combines Montalcino’s historic Sangiovese Brunello clone with international grape varieties of Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah. Magna Cum Laude fl anks two other Castello Banfi proprietary cuvées bearing Latin names, SummuS “the highest,” and ExcelsuS, meaning “eminent.”

SOILStony and calcareous.

PRODUCTION TECHNIQUEEach variety is vinifi ed separately and aged 6-8 months to enhance its unique characteristics. The cuvée is then made and aged an additional 6-8 months. It is unfi ltered to preserve its unique character. At least 6 months of bottle rest follows.

BOUQUETFull bouquet, with aromas of blackberries and plums, complemented by licorice, black olives, and pipe-tobacco notes.

TASTE Full-bodied, with supple tannins.

FOOD PAIRING A perfect match for rustic bean soups, grilled meats, and aged cheeses.

Ruby red, intense,

and very deep.

Complex, with notes

of blackberries, plum

jam, cherries, with

aromas of licorice,

black olives, and

pipe tobacco. Full

bodied, dense tannins,

round, and soft.

Can benefi t from

moderate aging,

but very enjoyable
