Concurrent Session Tracks
Whether voicing your opinion to your state legislators during our State Capitol visits or attending sessions about how top federal and California state legislative issues will affect you, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to improve your organization. To help you get the most out of this event, the conference is divided into two tracks for you to choose from.

Track 2: California Employment Law’s Effect on the HR ProfessionGain valuable firsthand information from legal experts to take back to the workplace in this three-part series. Learn how to handle critical HR issues, including:
• How to anticipate litigation challenges.
• How to understand and prevent retaliation claims.

Track 2: Session 2 - The High Cost of Getting Even: Understanding and Preventing Retaliation Claims
1.0 California Credit
Retaliation claims continue to be some of the riskiest and most expensive in the workplace; after all, they are easy to allege and can be easy to prove. Some employers have learned this the hard way, through costly litigation. According to EEOC statistics, retaliation claims have doubled in the past ten years. With the potential for million-dollar verdicts and expanded employee protections from the U.S. Supreme Court, retaliation claims remain a tricky and problematic issue for employers. Fortunately, there are many steps employers can take to reduce the risk of being accused of retaliation, and to fend off allegations when they are made. This session provides you with tips and tools to prevent these claims, including important updates on recent retaliation cases, and strategies for minimizing litigation risk.
