energy opportunities at three schools.

RESULTS OF ENERGY AUDIT

• The school district received a

comprehensive energy audit report.

• If implemented, the recommended projects

could save 21% or an estimated $120,000

per year.

RECOMMENDED PROJECTS

INCLUDE

• New fluorescent lighting

• Lighting controls

• High efficiency HVAC equipment

• If 100% of projects are installed, the cost (including

rebates/incentives by their local electric utility provider)

would be $1,042,000 with a payback of 8.7 years.

ADDITIONAL FUNDING

• Schools can also supplement their

Prop 39 funding by applying to the

Energy Commission for a 0% interest

loan (up to $3 million dollars).

COMMON QUESTION

Question: How many buildings can be covered with a typical energy audit?

Answer: For a comprehensive audit, about 200,000 square feet of conditioned* space can be included in the energy audit.

• Conditioned” means areas that are mechanically cooled (or heated). Ex: Classroom is

conditioned versus garage which is usually unconditioned.
