The Boston Tea Party Sequencing

Boston Massacre

What am I?

This was the first time blood was shed in the 13 colonies over conflict with England about Taxes, the economy, and the denying of civil rights.

The first person killed was Crispus Attucks, a former slave.

Tea Act

What am I?

A law passed by parliament to create a monopoly for the indebted East India Tea Company, which would allow them to sell their product directly to America.

What am I?

The Boston Tea Party

What am I?

The Sons of Liberty planned a response to the Tea Act that would later be called Terrorism, an act of Patriotism, and Civil Disobedience.

This response called for public protest that resulted in the destruction of almost $2million worth of Tea.

Intolerable Acts

Coercive Acts

What am I?

These were a collection of Acts (Laws) that served to punish the colonists for their act of Terrorism at the Boston Tea Party. The colonists felt they had committed no act of terror, but simply participated in civil disobedience and they simply could not stand for any punishment.

First Continental

Congress

What am I?

The colonists from all 13 colonies felt they needed to get together to discuss what to do about their problems they faced collectively from England.

They wanted to talk about being given representation in England and repealing the Intolerable Acts.
