Biomass Briquettes- Made Easy

Winters on and you have various heating devices ready to dare the cold. But how about something that gives you the same heat, takes care of your bills and the best part, keeps it all pollution free?..

Let us try something that costs almost nothing but gives almost everything you desire. All you need to have isare

Charcoal Clean soil Waste bowls (mould) Few pens or sticks and A stove (chulha) to burn the final product.

Get some crushed/powdered charcoal and clean soil

Mix them up in a ratio of say 9:1 (9 parts charcoal & 1 part soil

Mix thoroughly

Add a little water and keep on mixing

Transfer the mix into a bowl (mould) and put a few sticks/pens for making holes (for aeration) in the briquette

Sun dry for 2 days or until the briquette is completely dry

Burn in a stove or chulha

To conclude..

Size of the briquette depends upon the availability of raw materials.

The size of the briquette should be such that it fits into the stove/chulha.

Charcoal used here were the unburned pieces usually left in the chulha.

Briquettes making can be good tool for entrepreneurship with minimum inputs.

A finished briquette would fetch anything from Rs 10 to 15 a piece in the market depending upon the demand.
