Product Design Department

Academy of Fine Arts Sarajevo

The Department of Product Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo

has a graduate and postgraduate course. During the graduate course students

study universal principles of design with a focus on design process through

several projects and assignments of various types.

The aim is to establish collaboration with industry and craft through specific

projects, thus preparing students for professional practice.

The Product Design course at the Academy of Fine Arts is specific as it offers

students a wider insight into the domain of art and the domain of design

culture, encouraging creativity, analytic and sinthetic abilities and developing

critical discourse.

The design course develops freedom of thought on the level of an art course,

but at the same time takes into account the demands society places upon the

designer and the possibilities offered by the industry.

The course encourages individuality, exploration and development of one’s

own expression ranging from an idustrial product, keeping in mind the context

within which the product will be used, to a one-off product as an expression of

one’s own artistic vision.

The projects proposed for the exhibition were realized as part of the Industrial

Design class.
