Best practices of energy efficiency in Holland

Donetsk, 17 September 2009

Welcome

• The Netherlands

• Priorities of Dutch energy efficiency policy

• Sample projects

• About NUSEP platform

The Netherlands

• 200 x 300 km: 134th largest country, 7% of Ukraine

• 16th largest economy

• 16.5 mln people, 33% of Ukrainian population

• 3d largest investor in Ukraine

The Netherlands

• The Netherlands

• Priorities of Dutch energy efficiency policy

• Sample projects

• About NUSEP platform

Policy

• Targets 2020:– 30% reduction of CO2 emissions 1990– 2% energy consumption reduction per year– 20% sustainable energy generation– only completely energy-neutral buildings built

Policy aspects

• Trias Energetica• Industry collaboration

for policy development

• Research: – Meat consumption

causes 15% of CO2 emissions and uses up to 80% of agricultural land

Use of sustainablesources

Efficient use of fossil fuels

Limit energy demand

Triasenergetica

Policy

• Focus:– Bio energy in buildings and districts

(biogas and sustainable biomass)– Solar energy (passive, thermal, PV)– Heat pumps and heat storage– Wind energy (offshore parks and small

onshore mills)

Project 1

Kruisbergflat in Zeewijk

• Contractor: Zon Energie

• Existing building

• 12 storeys, 144 flats

• Before:– individual gas heaters:

monoxide, low efficiency and comfort

Project 1

• 72 m3 vacuum solar collectors + solar boilers• Additional heating by gas HR boilers• Renovation of in-house thermostats and

douches

Project 1

Result:• No boiler in-house = safety and extra room• Doubled comfort, better climate• Less influence by increasing gas prices• New douches

Project 2

Het Paleiskwartier

• Office, schools and residential buildings

• Contractor: Essent Infra Solutions– 180.000 m2 office space– 35.000 m2 auxiliary– 1.600 flats

Project 2

• Pond as heat catcher• Simultaneous cooling

and hot water supply in summer

• Cogeneration for heat pumps: x3 power, less CO2, net efficiency 85%

NUSEP is...

• …non-profit union of Dutch companies

• …supporting collaboration

• …between the Netherlands and Ukraine

• …in the energy sector

• …for private sector and governmental projects

• …with focus on energy efficiency in built environment

NUSEP is...

Partner for sustainability in energy

Energy efficiency projects in Ukraine:– technology– engineering– finance

Organisation

• Member companies (ZON Energie, Coopra, Nijkamp, CREM)

• Board

• Coordinator(IMC, Rotterdam area)

• Ukrainian representative(Next Step Oekraïne, Kyiv)
