Certificate in Investment ManagementGain a competitive edge in the Finance field with the Investment Management Certificate. The certificate includes an internship opportunity and access to the state-of-the-art David O. Nicholas Applied Finance lab—equipped with streaming financial news and the software available to professionals in the field.
Certificate in Real EstateThe Real Estate Certificate is designed to offer you the opportunity to complement your major field of study with an additional concentration in real estate. General Business MinorA business degree is a great investment in your future. But if you decide to pursue other studies, a Business Minor will enhance your abilities and your marketability—and give you a great career edge. The minor is offered in both online and in-person formats—choose what’s most convenient for you.
The Lubar School’s General Business Minor provides non-business majors with exposure to key concepts within the core business functions and management. The 27-credit minor provides a fundamental understanding of Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, and Marketing, as well as Micro- and Macroeconomics, and Management Statistics.
Business Study AbroadParticipation in a Study Abroad program can be a fascinating and exciting way to enhance a career path in business studies. From the smallest companies to the largest, today’s business transactions are increasingly global in scope, and understanding international business perspectives is essential. Explore possibilities for studying overseas early in your college career so that you can make the appropriate academic plans.

Business Scholars ProgramAs a student in the Business Scholars Program—Wisconsin’s premier program for high achieving business students—you will participate in interesting, thought-provoking courses taught by top Lubar faculty. Business Scholars courses have a strong emphasis on critical thinking, written and oral presentations, “real-world” application, and team projects. Class sizes are limited, fostering teamwork and social interaction, as well as in-depth discussion with faculty. Scholars also build a rich portfolio of academic, extracurricular, and professional achievements.
Academic AdvisingThe Lubar School of Business has a staff of knowledgeable and supportive academic advisors who assist prospective and current students with their academic programs. Upon admission, you will be assigned an advisor who works with you throughout your academic career to create your individualized Lubar EDGE plan. Academic advisors consult with students regarding registration, program requirements, grade point average calculations, transfer issues, graduation checks and other concerns.
Advising is available by appointment or on a walk-in basis Monday–Friday, all year round.
Multicultural Mentoring ProgramFor over 15 years, the Lubar School of Business has taken an active role in multicultural programming by creating connections and networking opportunities for talented multicultural business juniors and seniors with professionals in the Milwaukee community. Throughout the academic year, mentors and their mentees take part in a number of activities from workshops to networking forums to multicultural socials and receptions.

Career Services CenterStudents pursuing a major or a minor in Business have access to the School’s Career Services Center. The professional staff in Career Services provides assistance with résumé preparation, interviewing skills, and job search techniques for all undergraduates.
Career Services also coordinates on-campus interviews for part-time and full-time jobs throughout the year and promotes a wide range of opportunities for paid internships. Business students are able to take advantage of PantherJOBS Plus—a web-based system for scheduling campus interviews and posting résumés to potential employers. Each Spring, Career Services hosts an annual Career Fair, giving students the chance to meet with employers to discuss internship and permanent employment opportunities, share résumés, and network with company representatives.

University of Wisconsin-MilwaukeeUWM is the state’s premier metropolitan campus, with an enrollment of approximately 30,000 students. Located within an attractive residential neighborhood, UWM’s 93-acre campus is only a few minutes away from restaurants, cultural attractions, movie theatres, and places to shop. Lubar HallLubar Hall reflects the School’s on-going commitment to the integration of cutting-edge technology throughout the curriculum, both inside and outside of the classroom. The building houses 22 multimedia electronic classrooms, three student computer labs and two teaching computer labs, all equipped with the latest in business software—including SAP, a widely-used enterprise resource planning software. The school’s David O. Nicholas Applied Finance Lab provides students with access to the technology and resources available to professional investment managers. In addition, the building allows wireless access to email, the Internet, course syllabi and materials, library services, databases, electronic bulletin boards, and classroom assignments and quizzes.
