Internships:Usually summers only

Academic program Undergrad (UN3002)=1 or 2 credits Graduate (UN5000)=1 to 6 credits

Gain paid, career-related experience

Evaluated by your work supervisor You evaluate the employer & experience Write a technical report Receive a grade from academic department

Undergraduates Good social & academic standing (2.2 GPA) in

addition to the following: Must have completed freshman year (29

credits)

International students must have completed 2 consecutive semesters in the U.S.

Transfer students must have completed one semester at MTU

Graduates

3.0 GPA or higher Completing one semester at Tech Permission of academic advisor Obtain authorization from IPS if

appropriate

Valuable career-related experience Job-search skills Professional development Apply studies to “real world problems” Excellent wages

2006-2007 sophomores $15.56/hour juniors $15.98/hour

Full-time job opportunities Higher starting salary potential Employers expect to see on resume

Active, full-time student NOTE:Financial Aid will NOT cover co-op credits in

most cases

Maintain health insurance under parent/guardian

Student Loan deferment

4 1/2 to 5 years to complete degree

Additional costs: wardrobe, car, housing

Social disruption
