Student Tutorial10 STEPS FOR APPLYING TO A WORK-STUDY JOB

STEP 1: Access the NCU Student Employment Application Form

1. Go to http://www.nwcu.edu/admissions/financial-aid/undergraduate/

2. Scroll down to the “Work Study” section and click on it.

3. Click on the link to the “NCU Student Employment Application” to download and save a copy to your computer.

Note: You will also need to prepare a resume

to submit with your application. Some

positions may also require a cover letter.

TIP: Resources for creating resumes and

cover letters are available in MyNCU under

Career Development, Job Search Resources.

STEP 2: Complete the NCU Student Employment Application

1. Open the “NCU Student Employment Application”

2. Fill out the portions that are required and save it.

TIP: When saving the

document, include

your name in the file.

For example, “Jane

Smith Application” or

“Resume – Smith, J”.

STEP 3: Log into MyNCU1. Log into MyNCU - https://myncu.nwcu.edu/.

2. From the menu on the left, click on “Career Development”.

3. Click on “BeaconConnect”. (You may be promoted to update the required fields in your profile prior to viewing your homepage and searching for jobs.)

• Full-Time

• Sign up for Career Development Events

• Update/Edit your profile

• Upload/Edit documents

STEP 4: Access Your Profile1. On the Home Page - select My Account

2. Select tab - My Profile

3. You can edit and update your profile as needed.

STEP 5: Upload Application & Resume to My Documents

1. Go to “My Documents”

2. Follow the instructions provided.

STEP 6: Confirm Documents1. Ensure that each

document required by the employer is uploaded and named clearly.

2. Now you are ready to conduct a search for open positions!

STEP 7: Search Available JobsCLICK ON JOB SEARCH IN THE MENU ALONG THE TOP

ALL JOB POSTINGS WILL APPEAR IN THE LIST

STEP 8: Sort by Work Study1. For Position Type,

select “Work Study”.

2. Click “Search”

STEP 9: Review Work Study JobsCLICK JOB TITLE TO VIEW THE POSITION DESCRIPTION REVIEW JOB DESCRIPTION

TIP: If you have not uploaded your documents,

then you will see a message like this one.

Otherwise, an “Apply Now” button will appear.

TIP: Add to Favorites allows you to save

the job for later.

STEP 10: “Apply Now”

CLICK ON “APPLY NOW”COMPOSE A MESSAGE AND SELECT YOUR DOCUMENTS

TIP: Use the Student Message box to

introduce yourself and your materials.

Grammar and spelling are important!

Congratulations!You have now successfully submitted your application!

If you are selected for an interview, the employer will contact you.
