fc VALTecH TrUnniOn mOUnTeD BALL VALVe All Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves are primarily used but no limited to the Oil & Gas industry to ptovide reliable block and bleed service. Trunnion mounted ball valves design, manufacturing and materials comply with the requirements of the 97/23/EC Directive (PED), API 6D and ASME VIII.
Pressure/Temperature ratings and the flange design conforms to ASME B16.5 although seat ratings are set according to insert material. Wall thicknesses comply with ASME B16.34.
A large trunnion design ensures central positioning under the highest working pressure. Independent floating spring loaded seats provide a tight seal even at low differential pressures. Service and maintenance is simplified with a bolted body design incorporating.
The ball and stem are independent to minimize the effect of the side thrust generated by the pressure acting on the ball.

cerTificATiOn Every FC VALTECH valves, which is identified by a unique Serial Number, will be delivered complete with an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate for pressure containing parts and 3.1 certificate of pressure tests. In addition, all other certificates for special valve tests, destructive or non-destructive material certificates and qualification tests according to customer purchase order requirements will be included.
On customer request a third party inspector can witness every test and issue a certificate in accordancewith EN 10201 3.2.

DeSign feATUreS AnD AppLicATiOnS
Seat Seals FC VALTECH ball valves are produced with spring-loaded seats. This spring load keeps the seat in contact with the ball even in absence of line pressure and makes very efficient seal at low line pressure. As line pressure increases, the seat area createsa piston effect which forces the seat against the ball, therefore a tight seal becomeseffective. If the pressure is higher, the force excerted by the seatvonnthe ball is increased by action of the pipeline pressure. Therefore, the higer the line pressure, the greater the piston action.
All soft seats offers such as R-PTFE, NYLON, DEVLON, PEEK etc to gurantee zero leakage at low and high pressure at different temperatures these can be used for serveral services in any industry, they are also preferred and supplied to Oil & Gas producers. Soft seat inserts reduce friction which result in less torque when
operating the valve.
Stem Sealing Strict machining tolerances, accurate surface finish, and the primary postive sealing action of two O-rings and a secondly fire-proof graphite gasket assure zero leakage of the stem seals.
All valves are designed with an anti-blow-out stem to prevent the ejection by internal pressure when the stem retainer has been removed. The stem design does not preclude replacement of damaged stem seals. (Fig 1.)
Anti-Static Device All ball valves provides an anti-static spring loaded device assures electric continuity, with controlled low resistance, between the ball and the valve body and between the stem and the valve body. (Fig 2.)
Body Sealing All ball valves provides an anti-static spring loaded device assures electric continuity, with controlled low resistance, between the ball and the valve body and between the stem and the valve body.
Stem grease injection The stem is independent of the ball and is a blow-out-proof design.
As an integral part, a stem has a flange at its lower side. Owing to such a specific design, the stem flange prevents the stem from blowing out. This feature also allows replacement of stem packing while the valve is under pressure.
The grease fitting incorporates a Check valve designed to prevent leakage the environment, still allowing grease injection. (Fig 3.)

Seat grease injection In most of the cases, sealant lubrication fittings (Giant head) are installed.
The injection system comprise the grease fitting with the relevant sealing cover and the integral check valve.
In the event of seat insert or stem seal damage, external or internal leakage can occur. Emergency sealant injection can save the integrity of the valve by incorporating a sealant seal between the seat and the ball until such time the valves may be properly serviced.
The seat grease injection system is recommended for soft seated valves while is redundant in case of metal seated valves where the risk of damaging the seating surface is less likely thanks to the
hardness of the surfaces. (Fig 4.)
Body Vent/ Bleed Valve Other types of vent valve connection, such as welded or flanged are available according to purchaser requirements

fire Safe Design/ function Fire safe is standard design of all FC VALTECH Ball valves and certified according to API 607 – API 6FA – BS 6755 pt 2. The soft seat inserts, irrespective of their materials, will possibly fail when subjected to sudden high temperature conditions.
We provide fire-safe design which may substantially prevent leakages through seals when damaged by high temperature. The function of the seats before and after the fire test is shown on the sketches.
If the seat inserts are destroyed or burned out, a metal to metal seal is formed between the lower diameter of the seat and ball, while the seat to body seals, the stem packing and the end connections to body seals are designed to resist high temperature and will remain undamaged.
FC Valtech valves are fitted with Graphite packing which avoids any leakage between valve body and seat ring. (Fig 5. & Fig 6.)

Dynamic Seat rings
Spring loaded seats achieve low operating torque at different positions under high working pressures. Each seat ring is placed at each end of the ball in a way that the components achieve whenever the valve is fully opened; the rings are pushed towards the obturator by a set of coil springs which ensure appropriate sealing at low pressure before piston action effect takes place.
All seat arrangement has been designed to meet what is called a piston effect: As pressure increase, the seat differential area creats a piston effect that pushes the seat towards the ball surface that makes the mechanism attaining tight seal (upstream seat), such action reverses automatically as the pressure inceases, thus, overpressure between upstream and downstream seats (body cavity) could be released.
FC VALTECH is able to manufcature special Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves with seat arrangements that allow double piston effect which make use of the downstream seat acting as a secondary seal. Relieving over pressure built up in the body cavity shall be achieved by means of an extra valve.
Note: A safety relief valve is recommended to be installed to protect the body cavity from excess pressure.
Double Block and Bleed function
All Trunnion mounted ball valves have been designed with both-side-sealing type, which means that they seal both on the upstream or downstream side of the ball valve and inside the valve. Whether in the open or closed position, pressure on each side of the ball is blocked from the body cavity by the seat rings engineered to self-relieve.
Anti-blow-out vent & drain plug allow bi-directional valves to vent and drain the body cavity in both open and closed positions, this feature helps to de-pressurize the line downstream to open and work on it. (Fig 7.)
Upper & Lower Trunnions
The ball is held by two cylindrical protrusions that anchor the sphere from top and bottom, their main function is to avoid the ball moving off the pivot axis making it easy to operate.
Through conduit Whenever a pipe line requires maintenance or inspection, the use of gauges or pigs is necessary.
FC VALTECH full port ball valve eases the passing of such devices without the need to shut down the flow of the fluid.

FC VALTECH valves are suitable for manual operation by wrench or by gear when the force required at the wrench rim exceeds 300 N. Locking facility is available for both wrench and gear operators.
When valves are required with power operation, FC VALTECH can assemble the valves with specific actuators as per customer requirements (i.e. Electric, Pneumatic, Hydraulic or Gas over oil actuators), and will perform the proper functional tests and issue the related test records and certificates.
