It’s all about business!
The Chamber has been providing many different business
assistance initiatives through our Economic Gardening Pro-
gram over the last several years. Now we want to bring to
you expert advice which can help you react to your ques-
tions/or concerns regarding your business. We have assem-
bled local community business experts in the fields of ac-
counting, finance, IT, marketing, sales, operations and other
business service arenas that will assist you in the comfort of
your office or home. These experts are committed to empowering and equipping
business owners to grow and succeed. We believe by providing this local collabora-
tion and business enrichment assistance, we will positively impact our local econ-
omy. So how do we make this service possible? Well, Ask CREG! We have created a
BLOG format at www.CastleRockEG.com. Click on the Ask CREG icon and you may
post a question which will then be reviewed and directed to the appropriate expert.
Remember, we are working to help you in growing your business.
Business Boot Camp begins its 4th year enhancing business growth
It is now more important than ever to get your business into shape. Our Business
Boot Camp will be kicking off soon! The Boot Camp is designed to assist you in tak-
ing your business to the next level and help you prosper. Our focus is to assist the
ownership of small-to medium-sized businesses to analyze and learn key ways for
growing your business. Crucial elements of “next level growth” will be measured in
many ways – increase revenues and profits, added staff and workforce, acquisition
of investment capital and community impact. Ultimately, these growth patterns
depend on helping you strengthen your ability to impact your business. The applica-
tion deadline is September 14th; call me at the Chamber so that we can help you
with your business future.
Before I end my article I want to thank the numerous residents of Castle Rock who
donated money, food, clothing and toys to our neighbors in Colorado Springs who
lost their possessions in the Waldo Canyon Fire. The Chamber staff and a few volun-
teers collected and delivered
ten truck loads full of these
items. I know first hand in
speaking with a few Colorado
Springs victims of this terrible
disaster, the donations and
prayers were greatly appreci-
ated.

On July 21st, wine lovers had the opportunity to
participate in a Grand Tasting of Colorado wines
at one convenient location. The ninth annual
Castle Rock WineFest, an outdoor wine tasting
event, featured 29 wineries and more than 160
varieties of Colorado wine.
The Grand Tasting was held on the grounds of
The Grange in the Meadows™ from 12:00 to
6:00 p.m. and drew several thousand wine afi-
cionados for its tastings, wine seminars, cooking
demonstrations, food and entertainment. At-
tendees also received a free wine bottle tote,
wine glass and bottle of water while supplies
lasted.
As part of the WineFest celebration, winemaker
dinners preceded the Grand Tasting. Wine-
maker dinners featured select wine pairings
with signature cuisine at exclusive area restau-
rants. This year’s restaurant hosts were Union
– An Americ an Bistro in downtown Castle Rock,
Gabriel’s Restaurant and Tuscan Bar and Rock-
yard Brewery.
This year, guests enjoyed the stylings of Eef and
the Blues Express, Denver’s grooviest blues
band. The grape stomp was a cro wd favorite
along with four demonstrations/seminars to
choose from, attendees were both educated
and entertained throughout the day. Quality
food vendors and a variety of artisan/craft ven-
dors completed the festival exper ience. Join us
next year for our 10th year and experience
A Beautiful State of Vin e.

The Castle Rock Chamber of Com-
merce is pleased to announce its July
recipient for Business of the Month —
Sky Ridge Medical Center. They have
been proud members of the Castle
Rock Chamber of Commerce for more
than 10 1/2 years!
Sky Ridge Medical Center is proud to
be part of the Castle Rock community
since 2003. The Sky Ridge Imaging
Center at Castle Rock has also been
open for the past five years, providing
imaging and mammography services…
close to home.
Since its inception, Sky Ridge has
strived to be a destination facility that
offers the most advanced programs
and services in a healing, compassion-
ate environment. With an extraordi-
nary staff and physicians from virtually
every specialty represented, residents
rarely need to leave Douglas County
for their care.
The Sky Ridge team is proud of its
accomplishments including earning
the “gold seal” of approval from The
Joint Commission for its stroke, spine,
total knee and total hip programs,
securing accreditation from the Na-
tional Accreditation Program for
Breast Centers (NAPBC), achieving
chest pain certification and launching
a robotic surgery center of excellence,
to name a few.

Are you getting sales
by a ccident or by
design? Most busi-
ness owners admit
they get most sales by
accident. Comments
like these prove my
point, “I met my last customer in the grocery
line”, or “a friend of my wife referred my
newest client”. Do you ask yourself these
questions:
1) How can I consistently get in front of
more qualified prospects?
2) What message will help me to close more
sales?
3) How did I lose that sale?
At one point or another everyone in sales
has asked these questions. What will you do
next?
Discover how to increase the number of
leads, and close more sales by using Mike
Tafoya’s 5 sales secrets developed during
the down economy.
• Low cost marketing and branding
• Build strong relationships before trying
to sell
• Focus on the client not on products and
services
• Be the expert and identify the pain
• Read your prospect-they will tell you
when they are ready.
Over the past 30 years, Mike Tafoya has
been a leader in business development,
sales process and sales strategies. Start get-
ting the results you need now and attend
Mike’s newest sales workshop.

Chamber’s Workplace Safety Program pays off for
our members
Once again the Chamber’s Workers Compensation pro-
gram is proving to be profitable for our members. We
have distributed a total of $445,995 over the last six years
in dividend checks to our member policy holders. Our
partnership with Pinnacol Assurance and CoWest Insur-
ance Group has been in place for seven years and this pro-
gram continues to get stronger. Not only do our members
see value in the dividend, they are also seeing a benefit by
reducing their accident claims. If you are interested in
hearing more about the program, call me at the Chamber

Sue Turner is a Denver native, and
has lived in Castle Rock for sixteen
years with her husband Brett and son,
Steve, all of whom work in their own
bu siness, Proforma Image
Branding. She moved to Castle Rock
when Littleton started getting “too
big.” She and her family love the
small town feel, and the sense of
community that is typical of small
towns. Even though Castle Rock has
grown a lot in the time she’s been
here, Sue feels it has maintained the
small town feel, and frequently talks
about how “they roll up the sidewalks
at night.”
Sue is in her second year as an
Ambassador. She has been a strong
advocate for the Chamber since she
joined more than four years ago. She
enjoys being an Ambassador for the
camaraderie that it brings, as well as
the opportunity to mentor new and
potential members. Being an
Ambassador provides the opportunity
to take an active role in the
community and make a difference.
The role of Chamber Ambassador
also defines you as a person who is
interested in building business
relationships, encouraging new
business leaders to become more
involved and generally making this
community great place to work and
live. It is the same reason Sue enjoys
being a member of the chamber - for
the relationships she has developed,
and many strong friendships as well.
Having clients become friends is
what being in business is all about!

Why CREG?
To understand the value of CREG, first
consider the attributes of great garden-
ers: they understand a strong, fertile
foundation allows plants to take root
and develop properly; they pay close
attention to the weather and prepare
their gardens for any storms that may
be forecasted; and most important,
they utilize the years of experience
they have gained to ensure their gar-
dens yield excellent crops year after
year. CREG provides similar assistance:
they can help you establish a firm busi-
ness foundation- from showing you
how to develop your business plan, to
identifying the best ways to obtain
funding, and everything else associated
with opening your doors; they pay
close attention to local, national, and
even international business and can
identify trends that could either help
or harm your business; and they can
leverage their combined years of ex-
perience to help you guide your
business to sustainable success year
after year.
All services and information are at lit-
tle or no cost to both start-ups and
established businesses in Castle Rock.
Check out the new blog and see for
yourself. CREG is here to help!
"Our mission is to provide
small businesses with the
resources used by best-in-
class firms, thereby enhanc-
ing their competitiveness in
the local, state and global
marketplaces."
The business world is constantly
changing, let CREG help you expect
the unexpected.
