SLO Tools and Forms

Created using Microsoft Access

o Two databases are created each semester.

o Three campuses are assigned to each database.

A Look at the Section Selection

e-Form and SLO Data

Collection Tool

• Populating the Section Selection e-Form Course section

reports are pulled from the People’s Soft database after Official

Day and uploaded to the e-form database.

• Selecting Sections: Assessment leaders then select sections for

assessment (Follow 25/4 Rule: 25% sections/4 sections

minimum)/Include online, dual, centers as well)

Selection e-Form

SharePoint acts as the “storefront” for the databases

o The Access databases are linked to SharePoint sites

for users to access the site through LSC’s intranet.

o This allows us to protect the faculty’s confidentiality.

because faculty need to enter their employee ID to

access the data entry tool.

What Faculty See from

the SLO Data

Collection Tool

• Once sections are selected, we identify any new users

based on their selections and update permissions on the

Share-point site.

o We email the identified instructors/sections to let them

know they have been selected, and provide them the

link to the data collection tool created for their campus.

o When assessment is complete, instructors access the

site to enter their section level data.

SLO Data Collection Tool – How we use it

SLO Data

Collection Tool

• Curriculum Team Form (CT Form): Situated in the SLO Form

section;

• SLO Form: For assessment plans and closing the loop

reporting—Mainly Fall semesters assessment/Spring

semesters are for catch-ups

• PLO Form: For workforce programs and other 60 credit hour

programs to develop assessment plans and closing the loop

reports – Annual process

SLOs vs. PLOs

SLOs vs. PLOs:

SLOs: At LSC, SLOs are course level learning outcomes

PLOs: Program level learning outcomes

SLOs should support the assessment of PLOs

SLO Assessment vs. ACE

Implementing SLO recommendations in ACE

assessment plans

Example 1 (Carry the Recommendations to ACE):

The SLO recommendation, “Continue to advise and

motivate students: encourage attendance and encourage

completion of coursework,” was addressed in the 2016-17

ACE assessment Plan, Objective 2— “Instructors will call

students with 2 or more absences to encourage them to

attend class.”

SLO Assessment vs. ACE

Implementing SLO recommendations in ACE

assessment plans

Example 2 (Carry the Recommendations to ACE):

The SLO recommendation, “Offer full semester online

courses (16 weeks) rather than 8 week course, and

restrict online enrollment to those students with a grade

point average of 3.5 or better,” was addressed in the

2016-17 Unit Effectiveness Plan, Objective 4—

“Implement the long semester and GPA requirement for

the online courses.”
