ROCK MUSICE EXPERIENCE | SPACE EXPLORATION | CONTINUITY

SITE CONDITION

This is a 300 seats performing center design with additional programming located in Asheville River Side Arts District, Nouth Carolina. The performing center includes Block Box, Shops, Rehearsal room, Design studio and other service spaces. The additional programming could be choosen by designer himself. Combine with the site, Rock Music Experience is selected as the programming topic. As a music town and arts district area, the design could continue the local culture of music art and attract people to come. Exploration is another core concept of this programming, the space design will attract people walk into the site and expore and discovery the rock music when they visit the experience center. The design eliminates the boundary of indoor and outdoor space, the music experience is not limited inside buildings.The nautre harmonious is also an important point to consider in design process. A good design will not damage the existing landscape but improve it and bring new life to the area.

Asheville is a famous art city. The site is beside Asheville Art District as an extension of Art District. The design should consider the relationship with art, artists.

The site has beautiful and comfortable nature context. A good design never damages the balance between human and nature but improve and make it better.

ADVANTAGE

1. A variable air volume system is highly efficient because the minimal amount of air required is used to keep a sapce at its design temperature.

2. Since a VAV box is linked to a thermostat, the ability to control temperature in a space is independent of other spaces.
