Picky Writing Rule 18: Only use exclamations when you are exclaiming something. If you feel the need to put one end at the end of a regular sentence in order to make your words more exciting, you should simply rewrite the sentence. As noted author F. Scott Fitzgerald said, “Using an exclamation mark is like laughing at your own joke.”
