Let’s reflect quietly for a moment as we thank God for his protection in the recent fires and also remember those who have lost life and property.

Most merciful God, in the midst of natural disaster we look to you in hope and trust, acknowledging that there is much in life beyond our present understanding.

Accept our compassion for the suffering; bless those who are working for their relief; show us what we can do to share in their task, as servants of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord, we pray not only for those whose lives have been darkened by disaster over recent days, but also for those whose faith has been shaken.

We pray that you would comfort families and loved ones of Allan Tiller and his church community, and Janet Hughes, on news of their tragic deaths. Comfort those with loved ones in hospital following these fires.

Confession

P: Friends in Christ: Let us confess our sins to God our Father and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.

“People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world” (Luke 21:26)

It is indeed right and good, Lord God, holy Father, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. You have revealed your glorious presence to us in a new way through the mystery of the Word made flesh, so that as we see you in your Son, we are drawn to love you whom we cannot see.
