Binge drinking – 5 drinks in a row for men, 4 drinks in a row for women on a single occasion
Harvard School of Health (2010) 44.4% of students regularly binge drink 22.8% were frequent binge drinkers

Negative Effects on College Life
Frequent binge drinkers are 16 times more likely to miss class, 8 times more likely to get behind in their school work
Alcohol Abuse Among Students 12,500 college students nationwide
every year who do not return to school due to alcohol related mishaps

“I always drink whatever is the cheapest at the liquor store,” said sophomore Tom Ward. “We’re in college, even if it is more dangerous, I drink what I can afford.”

Uconn RA’s worked a combined 3,000 extra hours for Spring Weekend 2010 than an average weekend, in efforts to deter drinking
Violation of Uconn Regulations The following are not permitted as a student at Uconn Illegal consumption, possession No alcohol over 80 Proof Serving to anybody under 21 years of age Public consumption Driving under the influence No tap/keg systems on campus
Any violation of the above requires that student to be subject to consequence, anywhere from residential probation to removal from the university.
