Common Model for creating Web Data!

BIBFRAME Approach• Identify functional descriptive requirements among various stakeholders

• Balance the creative tensions between descriptive needs of past and future

• Recognize there is no “done”, but rather an evolving process

• Define a high level Linked Data content / carrier model (simple things be simple, complex things be possible)

• Create Web Identifiers of “Nouns” and “Verbs”

• Under specify the shared Schema

• Provide a light weight means of constraining the option space to support specific individual, community needs

!

BIBFRAME Profiles are a sharable blueprint (from simple to complex) that

support a specific communities descriptive need!

Act 3 Benefits, near term opportunities

and lessons learned

An example of a new kind of “Workflow” on Web

Linked Data Analytics

Conclusion• BIBFRAME profiles represent a means for projecting local

meaning into a common framework based on global standards

• A means for using only the portion of BIBFRAME you need

• Relaxes assumption to wait on “final” vocabulary

• BIBFRAME Editor is designed to help ground the discussions

• A means for accelerating BIBFRAME experimentation

• Implementation is early, but results are incredibly promising
