close-knit community of about 3,100 on the banks of the Delaware River in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains.
Walton is located approximately 150 miles from the New York City. Binghamton is about an hour away, with Albany, Syracuse, and the Scranton, PA each about two hours away. Oneonta is a short 25-minute ride. Five colleges are located with-in an hour’s drive: SUNY Delhi, SUNY Oneon-ta, Hartwick College, Binghamton University, and SUNY Broome.
The community is a proud and active support-er of its school district. Major employers include KRAFT corporation and UHS Delaware Valley, the local hospital. Walton also the hosts the Delaware County Fair, now in its 133rd year. A radio station (WDLA) and weekly newspaper (The Reporter) cov-er our community news. A wide range of faiths are served within 15-minute drive.
According to the 2010 census, the area population was approximately 5,576, with 3,088 of those in the Vil-lage of Walton. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the Walton area, including golfing, tennis, swimming, camping, hunting, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.
Cultural activities in or near Walton include con-certs provided by “Music on the Delaware,” the his-toric Walton Theater, seasonal festivals and other artistic endeavors.

The High School Principal will provide vision and leadership that guides the direction of the school to address the unique needs of high school students. The candidate should pos-sess skills to:• Craft a safe and welcoming school environment. Be visible and accessible to all and set a positive tone for the workplace. Create practices that acknowledge student and staff achievement.• Collaboratively develop programs and associated training that focus on immediate and long-range program needs.• Hire staff and provide orientation and/or mentoring. Observe and evaluate building employees.• Support all school-related student activities. Establish expectations for proper conduct. Take corrective action in a fair, firm, and consistent manner. • Monitor the general condition of the building. Assist district administration in the purchase of program equipment and supplies, and with budget formation.• Model positive behavior. Foster constructive relations between the school and the community.• Report to the central administration and/or the board of education on matters of educational interest.• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
