According to TechNet (2010), Digital media refers to audio, video and
photo content (graphics) that has been encoded, in other words, digitally
compressed. Encoding content involves converting audio and video
input into a digital media file such as: Windows Media file. After digital
media is encoded it can be easily manipulated, distributed and played by
computers and is easily transmitted over the internet or computer
networks.

Digital media is also for the convenience and entertainment of
consumers. In earlier times, messages were once distributed by one
particular source, who had great power over the information
distributed (whether through newspapers, radio or television) and how
it was perceived by the public. However, all that began to drastically
change with the rise of computers and more importantly the internet.
