• Franklin, Benjamin- Author, publisher,inventor and diplomat.

• Attucks,Crispus-American hero and martyr of the Boston Massacre

• Confederation- United in a league , alliance , or conspiracy.

• Declaration of Independence- Document written by Thomas Jefferson claiming Independce from Great Britain.

• Doroethea Dix- Reformer who fight to improve the care of the mentally ill.

• English Bill of Rights-called for frequent election; guaranteed right to bear arms,farbade cruel and unusual punishment; restated trial by jury.

• Nullification Compromise- Henry Clay’s compromise to end the nullification crisis when the tariff would be lowered over 10-year period.

• Ralph Waldo Emerson- writer and poet. Popularized the idea of transcendentalism

British taxation. He established the committee of correspondence. Leader of the sons of Liberty and insisted a Bill of Rights be assed to the Constitution before ratification

• Thomas Paine- wrote common sense and He urged Americans to support the Patriot Crisis, during the American revolution

• Temperance Movement-social movement to stop drinking alcohol
