How effective is the combination of your main

product and ancillary texts?

Colour• The colour on the newspaper and poster is consistent

throughout. The consistency on both products, shows the professionalism of the products and creates a better link than if the two products were completely different. If the products were completely different then the customer could not relate them together. The logo is important in allowing the customer to relate the products together. To see which colours worked together I researched into the colour wheel which shows which colours work best together.

Layout• The similarity in the layout between the newspaper and the

poster is similar, in the aspect of the logo on both is at the top.

• Both the newspaper and the poster have images and text that emphasise the point that needs being made on each. i.e. newspaper it links the story, and on the poster it links to “join the Wigan Herald community”

Theme• The theme on the newspaper is that it is locally reporting on

all local news which is completely relevant to all who live in the proximity, and then similarly on the poster it tries to convey a “community feel” which links both products together.
