9 Steps to Optimizing Your WebsiteBy Escape The Matrix

If you build a business you put a sign on the building and the side of the road right? If you have a website built and you want it to get some traffic there are some very basic things you NEED to do that will make a huge difference in your results!

Comprehensive 9 steps will

help you optimize your website to attract

customers, and get you

some love from Google

The following

1. Make a spreadsheet of your sites main

pages.

Record the following

Existing Domain URLs

Titles, Descriptions and Meta Tags (keywords) Entered for all URLS

2. Create a list of the Keywords you would like to rank for

Think “What would some one type into a search engine to find my site?”

3. Use SEMRush.com to

determine what rankings your site already has

*VERY IMPORTANT!*

Check which page is ranking for what keyword!

If a subpage is ranking 15th for the Keyword “brass trinket,” then

you are going to optimize that page for “brass trinket,” NOT your home page!

4. Use SEM Rush and

Google’s External Keyword Tool to determine which words are most relevant for your site.

Believe it or not, there is a difference between “Greensville Orthodontics” and “Greensville Orthodontist”

5. Re-write the Meta-Titles

of your pagesThe title should start with the most important keyword you want to rank for

This is usually the keyword with the most traffic, but isn’t always

When in doubt, aim for the higher traffic Keywords

6. Re-write your Page DescriptionsInsert your keywords wherever they make the most sense

Remember the purpose of the description is to SELL a web surfer on your site!

It is NOT to force in unnatural sounding keywords

Your description should draw the visitor into visiting your site

7. Enter the main keyword and it’s derivatives into the Meta-Tags.

Don’t over do it with keywords!! 3-4 derivatives is plenty!

8. Re-write the H1 title of

your pagesThe H1 title of your page should

include your main keywordThe keyword should be placed at

the beginning or close to the beginning of the title

9. Check your content for

Secondary wordsUse secondary keywords throughout the page wherever they sound natural

Your primary keyword doesn’t need to be used any more thane 3 or 4 times throughout your whole page

Any more than this annoys Google and your reader

Remember!!Usability and Readability ALWAYS come before optimization when it comes to content!
