MY NRP SUPERVISOR
Mr.
Do remember that not all Supervisors are local / native to Singapore –many of our Professors are foreigners and some are new to Singapore.
What does this mean?o They may not have an understanding of our pre-tertiary educational
landscape.o They may not know what our school hours are like.o They may not understand how demanding pre-tertiary education is
in Singapore.o You will have to communicate clearly and not take things
for granted or assume that your Supervisor necessarily knows / understands the challenges / demands you might be facing in school.
MY NRP SUPERVISOR
Mondays to Thursdays: 8.30am to 5.45pmFridays: 8.30am to 5.15pmSaturdays / Sundays & Public Holidays: Closed
DO NOT assume that your Supervisor will always be at his / her desk or in the office – he / she may be away at class, meetings or in the lab doing research. Always make prior arrangements with your Supervisor before heading to NTU to meet with him/her.
NTU OFFICE HOURS
MOE School Calendaro The NTU Academic Calendar differs quite significantly from the MOE
School Calendar.o Your vacation periods DO NOT MATCH those of your Supervisor’s.

Travel Time to NTUo You may also want to alert your Supervisor of the time it would take
for you to travel from your home / school to NTU.o Distance must NEVER be an excuse for your unwillingness
to head to NTU – you should have factored NTU’s location into your decision when you decided to accept our offer.

CONTACTING MY SUPERVISOR
• A Gantt chart is one of the most popular and useful ways of showing activities / tasks / events displayed against time. o The vertical axis lists the activities / tasks you need to complete; the
horizontal axis shows the time / duration needed for each activity. o Each activity is represented by a bar; the position and length of the
bar reflects the start date, duration and end date of the activity. o This allows you to see at a glance:
¤ What the various activities are¤ When each activity begins and ends¤ How long each activity is scheduled to last¤ Where activities overlap with other activities, and by how much¤ The start and end date of the whole project
