Periodic Functions• Sine and cosine functions are periodic functions. The

values of these functions repeat over a specified period.• The shape of a sine graph is a sinusoidal curve.

Graphing the Sine FunctionThe sine function, y = sin !, relates the measure of angle ! in standard position to the y-coordinate of the point P where the terminal arm of the angle intersects the unit circle.

The Cosine FunctionThe cosine function, y = cos !, relates the measure of angle ! in standard position to the x-coordinate of the point P where the terminal arm of the angle intersects the unit circle.
