Now to each one the manifestation (gift) of the Spirit is given. (v. 7)

He gives them to each one, just as he determines. (v. 11)

God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. (v. 18)

What are Spiritual gifts?

Spiritual Gifts are special abilities given by the Holy Spirit and distributed to every believer according to God’s design and grace for the common good of the body of Christ.

“The God given ability to start new churches and ministries and oversee their development. People with this gift desire to reach people in other communities or countries and are able to adapt to other cultures.”

“The God given ability to distinguish between truth and error, and to identify deception in character and in relationships. Discernment is a keen sense of insight that enables someone to recognize potential or actual problems in relationships, imbalance in teachings, the presence of demonic activity, or misuse of scripture.”

“The God given ability to reassure, strengthen, and affirm those who are discouraged or wavering in their faith. To minister words of comfort, consolation, encouragement and counsel to other members of the Body in such a way that they feel helped and healed. They encourage people to accept and trust the promises of God”

“The God given ability to readily share the gospel with unbelievers in such a way that men and women often become Jesus’ disciples and responsible members of the Body of Christ. People with this gift seek opportunities in different ways to talk to unbelievers so as to communicate the good news to them. Their passion is the unconverted.”

“The God given ability to trust God's word and will, acting on it with unwavering belief, confident in His ability to overcome obstacles, so as to accomplish His purposes. They boldly go forward and lead others, trusting God to fulfil His promises.”

9. Giving9. Giving

“The God given ability to contribute money and material resources to the work of the Lord with cheerfulness and liberality. To give well beyond normal levels, either through wealth or faith. God has often blessed this person with financial ability through increased income or other means in order to build up the Kingdom of God.”

“The God given ability to be God's channel to restore people to health. This may be physical, but can also be emotional, relational and spiritual.”

11. Helps 11. Helps (Serving)(Serving)

“The God given ability to accomplish practical and necessary tasks, thus enabling others to increase the effectiveness of their own spiritual gifts. People with this gift often enjoy doing routine tasks in order to free others to do the ministry God has called them to do. This gift has as much spiritual value as any other and is of great importance.”

12. Hospitality12. Hospitality

“The God given ability to provide an open house and a warm welcome to those in need of fellowship, food and lodging. Those with this gift have an acute awareness of visitors and have a desire to make all people feel welcome. They enjoy having visitors in their home, and are usually not bothered if someone stops by and their home is not spotless. They are a key to helping new people become a part of the group.”

“The God given ability to pray for extended periods of time on a regular basis and see specific answers to their prayers, to a degree much greater than that which is expected of the average Christian. Those with this gift often feel compelled to pray for specific requests when they are made known. Intercessors often have an acute understanding that prayer is genuinely a conversation with God, and when left alone, find themselves engaged in prayer. They also realize the spiritual battle going on and the difference they can make.”

“The God given ability to make known the message of one who speaks in tongues. To interpret an utterance given in tongues into the common language of those present.”

15. Leadership15. Leadership

“The God-given ability to instil vision, motivate and lead others in accomplishing the work of the ministry. People with this gift know where they are going, inspire others and provide direction.”

16. Mercy16. Mercy

“The God given ability to minister cheerfully and appropriately to people who are suffering. Persons with this gift enjoy serving alongside hurting people. They have a strong desire to remove the pain or discomfort in the lives of others while at the same time remaining strong in their own faith. The person with mercy comes next to that person, empathizing deeply with the pain, but offering God's solution for healing.”

“The God given ability to obtain exceptional interventions of God's power that glorify Him and give evidence of His grace. This gift often accompanies the gift of apostleship and evangelism. Miracles can accompany the preaching of the message where there is a question about its truthfulness. They authenticate God's message but do not cause faith.”

18. Prophecy18. Prophecy

“The God given ability to proclaim God's truth with power and clarity in a timely and culturally sensitive fashion for correction, repentance, or edification. A person with this gift has an amazing ability to understand biblical truth and to apply it to the events and nuances of culture. When they are effective, others often feel uncomfortable because God convicts them through the person with this gift.”

“The God given ability to guide, care for, and nurture individuals or groups in the body of Christ as they grow in faith. Shepherds like to spend time with people, feeding, protecting and disciplining in love. They gravitate towards building discipleship relationships. Gifted shepherds are a good balance for the gifted administrator or leader.”

“The God given ability to understand, clearly explain, and apply the Word of God to the lives of listeners, causing change. They have a real thirst for knowledge and have an insatiable desire to share that knowledge. They teach the whole counsel of God, giving attention to detail and accuracy. They love to study God’s Word.”

21. Tongues21. Tongues

“The God given ability to express praise and worship to God in an unknown spiritual language. This is a spiritual ability to communicate directly between our spirit and God in an unknown language. The gift of tongues, according to 1 Corinthians 14, is primarily for self-edification.”

“The God given ability to receive spontaneous knowledge of fact or detail about a person or situation that has not been discovered through natural inquiry.”

“The God given ability to understand in an exceptional way the great truths of God's Word and to make them relevant to specific situations in the church.”

“The God-given ability to receive divine insight in how to respond to complex and difficult problems and situations.”

“The God given ability to apply spiritual knowledge effectively. A person with this gift enjoys skilfully applying biblical knowledge to a variety of life situations. They seem to have more common sense than the average person.”
