Being a “lep over“ of the construc=on ac=vi=es for the new underground tunnel of the railway; the site marks an important spot for the surrounding area which is dominated by historical suburban housing types with a high amount of green spaces. The site‘s strategic loca=on between two public transport lines, the regional train-‐line and the tramway has to be considered when it comes to the spa=al and programma=c organiza=on of its future development. Although, on the one hand, the underground tunnel and the rail tracks have a nega=ve impact, the site takes advantage of being at the crossroads of two public transport lines and a main road connec=on. The city aims at a development which should be An architectural and programmaGc “landmark“, including a bandwidth of social services, small scaled commercial uses, intermodal faciliGes (bike sharing) and high quality of public and green spaces. It has to be explored if housing is possible under the circumstances of enhanced noise and vibra=ons. It will be decisive how the site can combine the issues of ConnecGon, DensificaGon and Quality of open spaces.

The Redesigning of Public Open Spaces, their RelaGonship with their Surroundings. 5. The Connec=on with the Pedestrian Walkways Network and the purpose of linking the area to the system of sustainable mobility at the urban scale and regional / provincial level. 6. The Redesigning of Parking Spaces in line with the system of public spaces and the structure of urban mobility.
COMPETITION GENERAL GOALS… 1. CREATE a new “AGGREGATION CENTER” in town keeping the area alive, therefore improving the ci=zen’s quality of life. 2. ISSUE a clear message for an ac=ve support of bioconstruc=on, RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES AND ENERGY SAVING as a way toward a new lifestyle. 3. PROMOTE and reassess the exis=ng infrastructures through an effec=ve public expense too. 4. STIMULATE some new business opportuni=es to achieve a berer and quicker economic payoff (ROI). 5. REDEFINE the TOWN PLANNING STRUCTURE TO ACHIEVE A BETTER IDENTITY.

1-‐ Two GREEN HILLS chains moving on different levels.

President Nicolas Sarkozy commissioned in June 2008 ten teams of architects and urban planners to imagine an exemplary "Grand Paris" a sustainable and boldly designed capital. The project was hailed being the most ambiGous since Haussmann changed Paris in the 19th century. The challenge for the 10 teams was envisioning the European metropolis in 2030 being a "post-‐Kyoto" green urban centre which allows for growth beyond the current two million Parisians and provides them with anracGve urban environments.
MVRDV with ACS and AAF�s response for President Sarkozy�’s urban planning consultaGon for the great challenge of the Greater Paris area is represented in four parts: The �Synthesis� The �City Calculator©� The �Data� The �ObservaGon�.
