Introduce the lesson by having students work in  pairs or as a class to answer the Explore problem.  This will give students an opportunity to make a  conjecture based on evidence and develop  justification for their conjecture. Ask: • Where might you have seen this sequence? • How could this sequence be part of a pattern? Encourage different conjectures, and explore the  possibility that more than one conjecture may be  correct.
