Aims of the Families Course

• For Families and Supporters to think about what their ‘role’ is

• Refresh or learn new skills• Build a network of support• Learn about new things in the system • - Planning• - Individualised support

Course Outline

• Session 1. What is families role?

• Session 2. Effective Communication

• Session 3. What is a Plan & Why have one?

• Session 4. Moving from a plan to funding

• Session 5. Promoting Empowerment

• Session 6. Pulling it Together

• Usually six sessions over 6 weeks

• 3 - 4 hours for a session

• Usually from 9.30am –2pm

• Venues – in local areas

• Will partner with local organisations to deliver courses

• Develop a summary ‘plan’ (one page profile) during course
