The DHS Announcement: An Overview DHS has issued a Call for Comment (mechanism highlighted) All “properly formatted” comments will be posted for review Affirmed the need for a separate certification mechanism for small

businesses (as defined by the SBA) Some adjustment to the SBA definition is under consideration This decision will impact ~7.6 million businesses DHS is proposing two certification options: 1st and 3rd Party DHS is open to other mechanisms that are as now undefined DHS is discussing ways of recognizing businesses that conform to

one of the recommended options DHS is supporting the development by private sector organizations,

including schools, of tools that might be useful to this process. ISO guidelines on certification will prevail For more information, consult:
